Ever since the members of Blackpink had left YG Entertainment to pursue opportunities as solo artists, there has been this desire to see them fail or at least not do well when it comes to them achieving success outside of the group. Anytime the members of Blackpink achieve success in sales, streams, and charting, there is this whole motion about these three factors not mattering because the members have huge solo fanbases in K-pop. However, these three factors always come up, whenever people are claiming that they are not doing well or in their aspects “flopping”. The members of Blackpink are doing just fine as they are succeeding in fields of music, acting, fashion, and modeling with all four members achieving their own levels of success outside of the group. I am very well aware of the members having toxic solo fans that will compare the success of all four members inside of the group however, the way that casual and non-fans are jumping on the train to portray the members as the struggling artists outside of the group.
The fact of the matter is that Blackpink aren’t the only K-pop groups to have members debut as solo artists in K-pop as groups like SNSD, Red Velvet, Super Junior, Bigbang, BTS, Twice, and Mamamoo have had members debut as solo artists or at least participate in solo activities outside of the group. Yet, there aren’t any posts about these members on how they are doing or comparing the success of the members to each other. It just feels annoying about people holding Blackpink to higher expectations if they are just going to ignore hair success as solo artists in K-pop.
