Honestly I feel like Park Jinyoung is pushing this Big 4 concert, Fanomenon, way too hard 😭 I just don’t really see what SM or HYBE gets out of it. If anything, JYP seems like the one who benefits the most from this.
JYP is kinda in a rough spot right now. TWICE is no longer active, Stray Kids are eventually gonna have to enlist, and their newer 5th gen groups aren’t really replacing that level of sales yet.
NEXZ, KickFlip and Our Birthday are doing bad with their total sales combined are still under 1M, meanwhile RIIZE alone did around 1.4M, NCT WISH around 1.9M and Hearts2Hearts around 650K. And that’s not even counting SMTR25 with their huge Chinese fanbase.
HYBE isn’t exactly struggling with their newer groups either. CORTIS is doing around 2M, ILLIT is charting well, BOYNEXTDOOR is around 1M and TWS around 1.1M in sales.
YG’s newer generation isn’t looking bad either. BABYMONSTER is already doing Tokyo Dome, and YG still has another boy group and girl group coming.
So I’m just wondering… what exactly are SM, HYBE and YG getting from Fanomenon? 💀 It feels like JYP has way more to gain from putting everyone together than the other companies.
And another thing that makes me curious is that Fanomenon appears to be registered under JYP name. Maybe there’s a completely normal business reason for that, but it does make me wonder how the actual ownership and profit structure is going to work.
I’m not saying the other companies get nothing out of it, but from the outside, JYP seems to have the most incentive to make this happen.
