Very random, existential thought. I’m 22, in retrospect ik Dream Academy isn’t K-pop but sometimes I can’t believe Katseye is 18-23 years old. Lesserafim’s maknae Eunchae is 19. Illit’s age range is 18-22. IVE’s Wonyoung is 22. ITZY’s Yuna is 22 aswell.
Cortis maknae is 17, born in 2009. Kiiikiii ranges from 14 to 19 (I was surprised by this.)
K-pop idols just debut young and they’ve already achieved a lot. Meanwhile I’m 22, still in college and taking a gap semester figuring out what exactly I’ll do in life, and even I get tired and burnt out.
This makes me look upon this in a different light. The idols barely have time to rest. This is basically their work, nonstop and grinding with a lot of micromanagements. I admire how they’re able to do this. With even their wellness and mental health, the negative side of being scrutinized by so many people. I can’t do this myself.
I do think it’s incredible they’re able to live their dream and do what they love, whether this would be performing, or etc. But it definitely makes me think that going into this industry incredibly young is an entirely different experience. From the other side, we’ve just been watching these idols, and when they again, get scrutinized, it’s definitely a bit dystopian
