No, female idols are not offended by Blackpink’s lyrics in their songs.

Inside of the K-pop community, there is this motion that Blackpink’s lyrics puts down women and that female idols might feel offended by listening to the lyrics that their idols/seniors are releasing which to me is ridiculous. First off, female idols had literally cited Blackpink as their role models and reasons as to why they had become idols in the first place. Second, the same songs that nonfans find offensive towards these idols, are literally being listened to, sung to, danced to, and recommended by these female idols. Heck Typa Girl (2022) which is considered a “pick me anthem” by nonfans, was literally danced to by female idols at one of the year end awards shows when it had come on the nomination list. I can’t help but noticed that there is a double standard when it comes to bold lyrics being sung by both female idols acts compared to male acts as the way nonfans reacted to Pretty Savage (2020), Shut Down (2022), Typa Girl (2022), and the Girls (2023) was very noticeable.

In 2010, G-dragon and T.O.P. had released Knock Out (2010) in which both men had made boastful claims with T.O.P. claiming that he’s original and G-dragon claiming that people want to be the “Next G-dragon” after seeing his swag yet there was no backlash towards them.

In 2012, G-dragon had a freestyle rap at the 2012 Mama Awards in which he had rapped about being the best, bragged about his influence, and criticized idols for mimicking his style and image in front of other acts in attendance yet no one had criticized him for being disrespectful.

In that same year, G-dragon had released One of a Kind (2012) and Crayon (2012) in which he brags about his influence and wealth, yet he is given a pass because of his status in K-pop.

In 2021, Bobby from IKON had released U MAD (2021) in which he brags about being the real one and feeling untouchable yet there was no backlash for him.

In 2022, boy group TNX had released a song call Burst Up (2022) in which they brag about being on top and being different from others along with acknowledging that they are arrogant yet no backlash.

However, when its Blackpink bragging about their influence, image, and wealth, they are accusing of being “pick me’s, “high school bullies”, and “Regina Georges of K-pop.” I don’t really believe that Blackpink puts down women as I think those lines were taken out of context by nonfans seeing the lyrics and had just center their own narratives about the group. And before mentions about Blackpink’s songs being mostly about flexing, that is not true as they have songs about love, heartbreak, escaping toxic relationships, judgement, and female empowerment but since their songs about flexing is the most popular, every just assume that is all they sing about. By no means I am hating on these male acts, it’s just that I am calling out these double standards and hypocrisy of nonfans inside the K-pop community.

Please be civil in the comment section and do not bring hate towards Blackpink and any other act in K-pop.
