This is something I have been thinking about for quite a while due to interactions with other kpop fans but if you are a hater, just own it. There’s this new trend of people acting like they’re being forced to hate on idols and I find it so cowardly. Let me arrange the scenarios that I have come across:
- The company made me do it
This is a very common one albeit recent and I have mostly noticed it with hybe groups but I am sure it happens with other groups. Some people will harass and harass certain groups and idols and when confronted with the fact that they’re causing harm, they claim it’s the company’s fault. One big example is Katseye. Everytime they release something or are in the public eye, they’re consistently targeted with a footnote that the company is forcing people to hate them. That the company is ragebaiting and when I try to look at what is supposedly rage inducing it’s just music or outfits etc? How’s that supposed to ragebait you? If the music isn’t for you, look for what’s for you? For example, I don’t enjoy Ateez’s music so I don’t really tune in when they drop something. If I come across their music, and it’s still not for me, I just move on. I don’t have any strong feelings towards it or anything. It doesn’t anger me and force me to go on social media and call them names and attack their families then claim it’s KQ’s fault for not catering to my tastes.
Guys I promise you hybe isn’t forcing you to call wonhee downhee or to say that illit members are horses. This is all you. It’s your choice, own it.
- The fans made me.
This is another classic especially from snarkers. And it drives me up a wall. So fans constantly glaze their favorite groups? That kind of is expected since they’re dedicated enough to be fans in the first place. I know some fans go overboard as we’ve just seen in the Mina situation and that’s unacceptable but snarkers aren’t in the sane category. They’re the other side of the coin. Again, snarkers, I assure you Blinks aren’t forcing you to slutshame blackpink members and Armys aren’t forcing you to claim and spread false narratives about Jungkook’s HIV status. That’s all you. That’s who you are. You’re the type of person who can think ugly thoughts and spread them to inflict hurt. Own it . Don’t act like someone is holding a gun to your head forcing you to call people names.
If you are courageous enough to log into social media and spread hate etc, be courageous enough to own that this is coming from you. Don’t try to act like a victim. This isn’t the trolley problem.
