I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. When VLive shut down, the main conversation was mostly about losing a single platform that got replaced by a mix of different apps like Weverse, Bubble, Phoning, plus YouTube or Instagram. But from what I’ve been noticing, it feels like that shift did something a bit deeper: it subtly created a divide in how different fans experience keeping up with K-pop today.
To me, it seems like fans who used VLive got used to having almost everything in one place, like notifications, subtitles, and artists from different companies under one login. Keeping up felt a bit more passive back then. On the other hand, fans who joined after VLive never experienced that setup. From my perspective, a fragmented ecosystem isn’t necessarily seen as a loss by newer fans, it’s just the default. Checking multiple apps, looking for reuploads, or finding out about content through Twitter just feels like the normal routine.
My impression is that this difference seems to shape even the smaller everyday habits. Things like whether you’re willing to pay for separate subscriptions, how much effort you put into hunting down translations, or whether casual artists you follow just quietly drift off your radar. It feels like older fans often perceive these extra steps as friction or a loss, while newer fans simply adapt to them naturally.

And for fans who joined more recently, how do you feel about navigating content across so many different platforms today?
