I’ve been diving deep into the Korean indie scene lately for my platform, The Indie Planet, and I wanted to share some thoughts on a recent discovery that I think many here would love: SONAGI (소나기) and their EP, Boundaries (경계).
If you’re a fan of K-pop, you’re probably used to the high-energy, polished production of major label releases. While I love that, I’ve found myself really gravitating toward SONAGI’s sound lately. It has this raw, organic, and incredibly refreshing feel that bridges the gap between indie-rock and accessible, contemplative pop sensibilities.
What really struck me about Boundaries is how they explore those specific ‘moments of choice’—the philosophical border between the familiar and the new through such a grounded, melodic lens. It feels like a breath of fresh air.
Has anyone else given this EP a listen? I’m curious to hear what other K-pop fans think. Do you find yourselves branching out into indie sounds more often lately, or do you prefer to stick to the pop mainstays? Let’s talk about it.”
