When you think of the term ‘real k-pop’, what does that mean to you?

The other day I came across a tweet about a recent release that said that the song was ‘real k-pop’ and it got me thinking about what that means to people because I wasn’t really sure what they meant by that tbh.

So I thought I’d ask this sub because I thought it could be an interesting discussion, maybe? What defines kpop to you and makes it different from regular pop, other than it simply being by Korean artists? Do you view everything a “k-pop” artist releases as automatically k-pop or do you segment their work?
