I’ve been thinking about EVERGLOW and it honestly just makes me sad.
They debuted so strong with Bon Bon Chocolat, DUN DUN, La Di Da, and even their latest singles SLAY and ZOMBIE were bangers. They had that powerful sound and stage presence that actually stood out, and it really felt like they were on track to be huge.
But then everything just slowed down like how there were long gaps between releases, and even a long hiatus around 2022. After that, their comebacks felt really inconsistent, and it just seemed like they lost all the momentum they built early on.
Then the company situation made it worse. One of the members shared that they hadn’t been paid since debut because the group hadn’t made back the company’s investment yet, which is honestly crazy considering how well-known they were internationally.
And then with the lineup changing with 2 members leaving, it just hasn’t felt the same. They came back again recently, but it didn’t hit like before. Sales dropped a lot compared to their earlier releases, and it honestly felt like a lot of people didn’t even realize they had a comeback. After everything, it just seems like they never fully got their momentum back.
And that’s the frustrating part, because talent was never the issue. They had strong vocals, insane stage presence, and a sound that actually stood out. Their songs were memorable and hard-hitting, not just following trends. They had everything they needed to be way bigger than what ended up happening.
They were literally my top artist on Spotify Wrapped for two years in a row as well. They just feel like one of those groups that should’ve been huge, but got held back at the worst possible times.
