Can Dual Citizens Apply for Korean Special Forces During Military Service?

Hello everyone!

I’ve searched online but haven’t been able to find a clear answer, so I thought I’d ask here.

I’m a dual citizen who is considering serving in the Korean military as a conscript. I understand that during the 5-week basic training period, there’s a chance to apply or volunteer for special units, including the special forces.

My question is: Can dual citizens apply and be accepted into the special forces during conscription? I know there’s an interview and selection process involved, but I’m wondering if I would automatically be screened out due to my dual citizenship — or if I would still have a chance to be considered.

I realize the odds might be slim, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience or knows someone in a similar situation. Even better if anyone here is (or knows) a dual citizen who served in special forces in South Korea.

Thanks in advance!
