Why is Kiss of Life’s comeback underperforming? The numbers are shocking

As of right now, their recent title tracks ‘Get Loud’ and ‘Igloo’ are both out of the Melon Top 200. Despite promoting on music shows for the past week, ‘Get Loud’ has only been freefalling since debuting (and peaking) at #104 on the Melon Daily chart.

Their album sales are also underwhelming this comeback. First week sales were 92k copies. While this is technically greater than Midas Touch and their highest first week sales so far, it is only a difference of 23k albums. Given that they seemed to have their breakthrough hit with ‘Sticky’ back in July, I expected them to have an exponential increase in sales similar to how (G)I-DLE sold >600K more copies of I Love compared to I Never Die after the success of ‘Tomboy’. Instead it seems like they barely gained any momentum.

Is anyone else shocked by this? What do you think is the best explanation for it? Did the controversy over their use of AI turn a lot of people away from the group, or was it something else?
