This was a bit hard to put in words, but I’ve noticed something from modern fans these days. They want girl groups to do more innocent youthful concepts, namely Christian Horsegirl Music. But simultaneously, most people want more real legal adults in K-Pop. On one side, people say and analyze how minors are given more mature girl crush concepts (which I will get into later) which is somewhat sexualized and risque despite not technically being sexy, instead of youthful heartfelt concepts like they used to before, which is sad because the innocent Christian Horsegirl genre is currently not being pursued by labels in the current “mainstream” market. On the other hand, people want more adult aged idols instead of minors to take on sexy concepts which had for some reason become rare as well. Personally, I believe what the K-Pop market currently needs is a balance of diverse concepts. But with that being said, I recall seeing someone pointing out that minors are given mature concepts probably because it’s hard to properly transition or evolve from a youthful concept to a mature one gradually, (and of course, such youthful bright concepts and genres are no longer as marketable). So where would you draw the line? As in – what do you think is the most appropriate age for someone to debut with an innocent concept and despite necessary evolution and growing up, capable of maintaining their core identity?
P.S. Apologies if this was hard to read
