Not going to call out any kpop group sub, but recently there have been users who have reported being banned for not liking certain songs or direction of the group, and they are slapped with a permaban which is really harsh.
From personal experience, I was even banned from writing about my concerns about a group outside a sub one time, and they permabanned me for not even writing anything in there.
Personally, I think this is unhealthy behaviour and people should be able to communicate their opinions whether they are against the hive mind or not. And a permaban from a mod who doesn’t like what they said is way too harsh even if they were being borderline toxic. A 7 day ban is more appropriate, but I have NEVER seen a user report they have been temporarily banned. It is always a permaban and provides no opportunity to correct behaviour.
Given how other subs on Reddit don’t permaban first offenses unless they are really egregious, I want to ask why a lot of kpop group specific subs operate differently.
I believe this is how a culture of toxic positivity develops in spaces that operate like this.
