I’ve been thinking about TREASURE lately, and something doesn’t add up to me.
TREASURE debuted almost 6 years ago under YG Entertainment, one of the Big 3 agencies in K-pop. Considering YG’s history and influence, I honestly expected them to become one of the leading boy groups of their generation.
What surprised me recently is that TREASURE only got their 4th music show win, and their first-ever ENCCORE happened just yesterday (Mcountdown). For a group that has been active for this long, that feels surprisingly low compared to many other 4th-generation groups.

Meanwhile, it seems like many of their peers are still growing. Some 4th-gen groups continue to reach new career peaks, and even several 5th-gen groups are already gaining significant momentum and public attention. Yet TREASURE feels like they’re in a very different position.
I’m not trying to hate on the group at all. I actually enjoy some of their music and think the members are talented.
Do you think TREASURE has actually lost popularity over the years, or is their fanbase simply more concentrated in certain regions? Was it the long hiatuses, YG’s management, competition from other groups, changes in music trends, or something else entirely?
I’d love to hear opinions from both fans and non-fans because I’ve always found TREASURE’s trajectory to be one of the most interesting cases among 4th-generation boy groups.
