Why can’t non kpop fans understand that a bias doesn’t have to be a crush?

I’ve noticed that every time I talk to my non kpop fan friends about my bias, they always mention her as my kpop/celebrity crush. I tried explaining to them that a bias in kpop is just the member that you like the most for whatever reason (personality, skill, performance, etc). They don’t necessarily have to be the member you’re most attracted to. However, they look at me like I’m coping or they don’t believe me when I try to explain this.

I have celebrity crushes (Ruby Rose, Kento Yamazaki) so I know that my bias is not one. I don’t know to explain or convey this to them when it seems like a a topic they can’t comprehend.

It just feels weird bc they don’t say the same thing about having a favorite spice girl or fifth harmony member. For some reason, the fact that it’s kpop automatically makes them think kpop fans only lust after the idols. It’s kind of odd especially since some of then are casual listeners.

Idk if yall have experienced something similar T_T
