I had the random thought after YT suggested me a JPop-duo over and over an the 2 dudes looked too much like a KPop group to me and I was thinking, why is it that we see so many Japanese people who could totally pass as a KPop-idol by their looks but the other way around is like nowhere to be seen. I know in the 2000s some artists tried to style more like Japanese artists (especially visible with old SM acts, like yall know the early 2000s style of TVXQ etc.) and yet in the nowadays you would think there must be at least 1 from Korea who’s look would fool you to belive they could be from a JPop group instead, but it’s not the case.
What do you think might be it? I mean it’s not unheard of that some people in Korea love Japan, anime, Japanese music,… but you can still see a big difference between some people in Japan who don’t even try to look different and yet give Korean and KPop-idol vibes vs. that theres no other way around for Koreans who would give a JPop-idol vibe.
And even when you find a Korean in a Japanese group you often see that they are not Japanese but for some Japanese it looks like they give of the vibe that they could be mistaken. As example, I saw a video where a street photographer went up to an JPop-idol he found on the streets and blindly asked him if he was Korean cause he looked too stylish for a Japanese, even though the guy is in fact Japanese. But There would never be the oposite where for example a Korean girl would go for a “kawaii” look or try to follow Japanese makeup trends, it’s always the oposite where you wonder how come Japanese people could be mistaken for Koreans but not the other way around
What do you think about that? 🤔 Curious to know what you think why we have no KPop-idol that would give of JPop-vibes while looking at JPop you get the KPop-vibes a lot (even if people do not try to in JPop)
