Back in 2020 during the lockdown and with loads of time on my hand I slowly started to show my then 6 y/o some MVs, amusing reality show interactions, vlives, online concerts, etc… and she instantly loved the song Fantastic Baby by Bigbang. One of her favourites even to this day.
She would dance to it, sing it, wish for the song to be played as part of her lullaby playlist… since then she’s become a Stay and now (with her own mobile phone and spotify access) has her own current favourite music genre, which isn’t k-pop and very different from mine- she still loves this song.
A few months back I played some nostalgia k-pop songs and Fantastic Baby was included on my playlist, and my now 4 y/o jumped off her chair and danced and hopped and was going wild over that track. My older child laughed hard and joined her.. it’s now also one of my younger child’s favourite song, too.
What I want to say is that I am majorly amused by the fact that both my children are enjoying and loving this song so very much. It’s one of the first k-pop songs each of them heard whilst at a very young age and even though it’s to be seen how my 4 y/o will feel about this song in a few years, and even though my oldest has a very different taste in music by now she still loves this one particular song and both dancd wildly whilst singing at the top of their lungs (with none of them knowing any korean words.. it’s so funny)
I can’t really point my finger on why this is so entertaining to me.
I just wanted to share this delightful tale 🙂
