On Saturday, September 26th, TXT was supposed to perform at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City. Unfortunately, the festival was cancelled due to inclement weather, but on the day of the festival, TXT announced on their socials that they would perform live from their practice room at 8pm EST in lieu of their previously scheduled performance.
Looking for proof that TXT are great live performers? Look no further. Their performance was electric. This feels redundant to say, since TXT always sings live, but those mics were on. Echoey and static-y for sure, but 100% on. They’re incredible live singers, and this live proved it once again.
The livestream started with Yeonjun performing three songs: Talk to You, Ice Cream, and a cover of Sunflower by Swae Lee. The cover made me especially emo because the original plan was apparently to have moas at the Global Citizen Festival turn on their flashlights during it. Then, he went off-screen and the other four members went on-screen and chatted with moas for a bit (side note: their outfits? Incredible. Someone give their stylist a raise).
TXT as a full group performed 5 songs, and maybe not the ones you would expect! First, they performed Blue Hour. Yes, it was the version with the iconic dance break, although sadly no cowboy hats this time, but imo what we got was even better: they put on hanboks! They continued wearing those hanboks for a traditional music remix of Sugar Rush Ride that is probably one of my favorite remixes ever. The next song was the iconic 0x1=Lovesong, but then we got an incredible cover of Beauty and the Beat. I’m not even a Justin Bieber fan, but these boys bring an energy that had me singing along to every word behind my phone screen. Their dancers hyping them up with the flashlights behind them was so fun too. Then, they closed out their impromptu concert with a dance break version of Magic.
The concert was streamed on Weverse, but several moas have already uploaded it to YouTube (like here), and I highly encourage you to check it out, even if you’re not a MOA! It’s just so heartwarming that even though they flew halfway across the world for an event getting cancelled, they still pulled out all the stops for MOAs and put on an amazing show.
