After watching a ridicules amount of tour concerts of various groups over the last months, I came to a strikingly simple conclusion.
People LOOOOVE the lightshows.
It appears to be most common factor that elevates concert shows for any group. And notably all concerts that had some mention of disappointment, where lacking competent engineering.
Ofc. the number one factor was bad crowd management, but this was overcome surprisingly often by a competently done lightshow.
So what do you guys think about this point. I am right, wrong or am I missing something?
Do Labels need to higher more engineering staff for this kind of thing if they want to focus on touring? For me it appears to be a low hanging fruit for improvement for some labels.
And even tho I am not a fan of any of their groups, I wanted to highlight YG as the label with the most constant high quality show engineering across all concert videos I watched. It’s probably also one of the reasons why YG groups can pull strong crowd numbers in comparison.
