With the whole Cortis concert controversy going around, I wonder what everyone’s thoughts are about being asked to put your phones down during a concert?
This is not directed at Cortis specifically btw. I know a lot of artists do this (even non-kpop). I understand wanting fans to be in the moment and enjoy the show, but I do think excessively telling your fans throughout the concert to stop recording and put the phones down can be quite annoying.
I’m not gonna name names but a friend of mine went to a kpop girlgroup concert and told me that they spent 90% of the time asking fans to put their phones down and enjoy, only to deliver a lackluster performance. I’ve also been to concerts where the artists only tell us to put the phones down during the encore to enjoy together, which I think is fair since its only one portion of the show.
I personally understand both sides. Since performers do feed off of the crowd’s energy, I get them wanting fans to be engaged. But I also understand fans wanting to record, especially if it’s rare for them to see certain artists, and I do believe its possible to enjoy concerts and be in the moment while recording on your phone.
Just curious about everyone’s general thoughts on this!
