I think we all like to think our favorite group is really close, they love each other and all the extra content, hugs, flirting and look they give into their inner dynamics is sincere, but I don’t think that’s really possible or realistic. Kpop groups have mostly mastered the appearance of closeness, but even then, sometimes you can just tell that two idols are completely different and have very different approach towards artistry/portrayal.
Watch a group close enough (especially if they debuted young) and you can see bounds getting stronger and weaker. At the end of the day they are co-workers and their public relationship is also part of the job. Although I don’t think it is likely idols would pair with someone they hate, doesn’t mean that person is their personal friend either.
What are your thoughts on genuine closeness between members x fan service? Besides the famous Girls Generation beef, are there other cases of idols not meshing well? Are any cases of genuine close friends within a group? Can you recognize the real from the fan service and does it even matter?
