This is just my two cents and I’m not judging anyone for using these services nor the idols for using them. I know it is part of their job.
Obviously most of us know that something the kpop industry and companies love to do is sell the boyfriend/girlfriend fantasy. There’s so many ways companies do this it’s not just what I’m talking about here. They profit off of fans feeling like they have a chance with their bias, catering to a fantasy. I have seen some of the messages that are sent on apps like Bubble, fromm, toktoq, etc. or even Weverse and some of them are very flirty especially the ones on Bubble where it’s mentioning Y/N and fills in with the persons name. It is just a little weird to me 😭 I’ve never paid for it I just see it on twitter. I would feel kind of awkward getting these relationshippy cutesy messages that sound like something an s/o would send you and it’s literally an idol sending it to millions of people who paid a monthly fee just to receive these messages. I feel like stuff like that adds to the unhealthy parasocial relationships and attachments fans get to idols. Again I’m not judging but it’s a little wild to essentially pay every month to get y/n text messages from your bias. I hope this doesn’t come off as judgmental or mean it’s just my thoughts.
