Starship has never actually taken legal action against those who harass Wonyoung online, despite their numerous statements claiming that lawsuits were underway. It is worth remembering that Wonyoung had to hire her own personal lawyer to win her case against the YouTuber “Soyang”—there are, in fact, two separate legal proceedings: one involving Starship and another involving Wonyoung herself. If they are so keen on making more money, they ought to be suing her detractors as well.
I hope K-pop fans realize just how greedy this agency is. I happen to know that Starship recently purchased two new buildings for $60 million in an upscale neighborhood of Seoul. They have essentially been using Wonyoung as a cash cow.
I can certainly understand why Wonyoung’s fans want her to leave Starship and are calling for a boycott.
I am deeply concerned about Wonyoung’s mental health; she has been the target of hateful comments and malicious edited content since she was just 14 years old. We all know that idols often claim they are “doing fine” when, in reality, that isn’t the case.
