So kpop and its fan service…and my reaction to that

So, I’m definitely not one of those parasocial fans that like thinks they are actually gonna marry an idol, like I’m definitely grounded in reality lol and I just like to make jokes about and like you know thirst over these celebrities

But um is it wrong for me to say that because I have been dealing with chronic mental health issues since I was a child (I’m now 21) that sometimes just watching specific TikTok’s of like my favorite boygroup like flirting with fans at send offs or in fancalls, or at meet and greets like all that or like being gentlemen whether it’s during interviews or to fans just makes me a little bit happy? Like most days are really rough for me and sometimes that type of content genuinely brings a giggle out of me or a small smile to my face without realizing it

And I’m also single so sometimes it just kind of feeds my imagination of hoping I get a gentleman in a future partner, you know?

But like I’m obviously not thinking I’m gonna marry this man even if the idol is only 23 so you know we’re close in age.

I’m definitely asking for opinions here so please feel free to share, but also please don’t be mean…I’m honest enough to admit I am sensitive.

  • Thinking in 3 languages
The biggest lesson I have learnt about language did not come from my Korean classroom. It came while reading an English essay written by my Korean student. Until recently, I assumed learning a language was mostly about memorizing vocabulary and grammar. After all, that is what language classes often seem to revolve around. Now, after studying English, Chinese and Korean,… Read more: Thinking in 3 languages

  • The ‘new’ 6.25 of Korean genealogy
Americans call it the Korean War. Koreans call the three-year fratricidal war that broke out on June 25, 1950, the “yug-i-o,” meaning the day the war began.
