only reason people dislike itzy’s music nowadays is because they search for something that’s not there anymore.

so tunnel vision by itzy released earlier today and most the dislike for the song is because people are mad it doesnt sound like dalla dalla, wannabe, not shy, etc anymore… and thats when it clicked.
the number one reason most people dislike itzy’s new music is because they fail to realize and admit that that itzy is gone.
when they tried something new with sneakers, it got hate (mostly because of false advertizing with the concept but STILL), even when they went into another direction with cheshire, it was hated. Fast forward to Cake era and that flopped hard and only a select few enjoyed it.

Most old midzys who left the fandom and continue to criticize every new song they release is because they cannot accept the fact that theyve matured and don’t want to stay stuck in the teen crush bubble- especially when markets are changing and demands have to be met?
Now of course, this isnt the case for all who dont click with itzys new music, you may simply not like the new sound, and thats completely fine- im sure you’re doing quite alright listening to either their older songs or other groups that can fill that gap.

But netizens who continue to trash and criticize itzys tracks- trying to find something thats no longer there are just in a loop of insanity. ‘Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. ‘

its only occurred to me after tunnel vision released today since its an objectively good song? its charting higher than any of their last releases over the past few years & the reception has been very good on sites like twt where its KNOWN people just crap on itzys music just for the fun of it.

Ive heard people say “its their weakest title track” or “it sounds like a b-side” or even “i miss old itzy” and are quick asl to go and yap about how much they LOVE 8-Bit Heart.
Is it NOTT clicking??? Even though music is subjective, it has a very fine line where your taste no longer falls within the range where you want it to be.

I wish itzy a great era ahead and for this song to chart very highly as i see people are putting in WORK for this comeback but if its been comebacks upon comebacks and you arent hearing icy or loco or dalla dalla or wannabe or not shy- and all their old tracks in their music anymore, its time to move on and snap back into reality.

(not to mention, untouchable was very well recieved might i add mainly because it had some of the older elements of their songs which gave a sense of familiarity within fans who had bias to the older music.)

most of my sources are through subreddit threads for the comeback + charts on melon and other information sources for itzy + jype on twitter and my own personal research.

  • Thinking in 3 languages
The biggest lesson I have learnt about language did not come from my Korean classroom. It came while reading an English essay written by my Korean student. Until recently, I assumed learning a language was mostly about memorizing vocabulary and grammar. After all, that is what language classes often seem to revolve around. Now, after studying English, Chinese and Korean,… Read more: Thinking in 3 languages

  • The ‘new’ 6.25 of Korean genealogy
Americans call it the Korean War. Koreans call the three-year fratricidal war that broke out on June 25, 1950, the “yug-i-o,” meaning the day the war began. Like Dec. 7, 1941 (“a day that will live in infamy” — FDR), or Sept. 11, 2001, these were days so horrific that the event is known by that day as a numeric.… Read more: The ‘new’ 6.25 of Korean genealogy
