Cortis has the highest streams and album sales out of all the 5th gen kpop bgs and honestly, I don’t get why they are so popular.
I don’t find their songs catchy at all including redred. Ycc, tnt, fashion and acai are some of the worst kpop songs I’ve ever heard.
Their concept also isn’t creative. A lot of their sound are definitely heavily inspired by Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, and A$AP Rocky. Vocally, they are so mediocre except for Martin. In their redred encores, their vocals are so mediocre and nothing special. Their Lollapalooza performance was pretty much the same thing.
What I don’t understand is why Cortis barely gets criticized for their live performances. Twice, Blackpink, fromis_9, Ive, Le sserafim, ILLIT, Baemon (especially Ahyeon), H2H (especially Carmen), and KiiiKiii have all been criticized for having one or more bad encores or weak live performances but I barely see anyone saying anything about Cortis.
Aespa has been criticized for their stage presence since they were rookies and they also received criticism for their Lollapalooza performance while Cortis get a pass for performances that are not impressive.
Twice, fromis_9, Aespa and Ive were vocally stronger than Cortis even when they were rookies. Baemon and H2H are still rookies and they are stronger than Cortis vocally.
Lemonade, suddenly, motto and heavy serenade deserved more music show wins than redred.
Cortis’ 1st ever concert was a disaster. It only lasted like 1 hour & 40 minutes and instead of covering songs from other artists, they kept repeating the same songs over and over. They literally performed their worst song, YCC, 5 times. Redred was repeated 4 times, while fashion, acai, mention me, tnt, go!, and what you want were all performed 2 times.
Like… how is this supposed to be a full concert? It’s such a cash grab and I feel bad for the fans who paid to attend. This is just so disrespectful to the fans.
People care way more about streams, sales, and popularity than the actual music or talent nowadays.
