My review of aespa’s lemonade album+armageddon comparison

Lemonade is everything armageddon wasn’t. The bsides are cohesive and actually sound like one body of work. My main problem with armageddon was that the lead singles were two of their best, especially supernova, but the bsides were completely out of place. The second half of the album looked like it belonged on a different release than the first half.

Well, this problem was fixed with this album. Not only are the bsides cohesive but they’re also better in overall quality than armageddon’s with more replay-abillity. To the point two of my standout songs are bsides (camouflage and till we die) which is usually not the case because I prefer their lead singles.

The lead singles were good, albeit not as powerful as armageddon’s. Lemonade is a traditional aespacore song that goes all out in their signature sound while wda has a darker sound and I prefer it over lemonade. I love the verses and the darker atmosphere it creates as well as the heavenly ningning intro. My only problem is the g-dragon verse because I don’t like his rapping and voice.

Overall,I think it’s one of aespa’s best bodies of work. They tend to be kinda hit or miss with their albums,in the sense that the lead singles are always good but the bsides aren’t. They usually go from good bsides to bad and then back to good. For example savage had great bsides, then girls’ only standout bside was illusion, then they went back to good bsides with my world, then drama had their worst, then armageddon was an improvement but the bsides were still weak, then whiplash had great bsides, then rich man’s were underwhelming and now they’re back to great bsides.

My point is that their albums sometimes are great bodies of work, sometimes they aren’t and only the lead singles stand out. Lemonade tho,I think it’s up there with savage and whiplash as one of their best overall bodies of work. I am glad they listened to fans’ criticism during armageddon and didn’t get stuck making underwhelming albums. Lemonade is one of the best releases this year so far. I’d rate it a 7/10
