Made a Korean friend through GTA Online — any advice on Korean social norms?

Annyeonghaseyo guys!

Recently, I made a friend in GTA Online who is from Korea, and we later connected on Discord. On the first day, we talked quite a bit and got along pretty well. Then I got busy for 3–4 days, and after that I reached out to him again.

I shared my Steam account with him to check if his device could run some demanding games, we played a few games together, and I also introduced him to some of my other friends. However, he wasn’t very active or talkative around them, although he mentioned that he is shy. Even when I contacted him afterwards, he still wasn’t very active in conversation. At the same time, it doesn’t really feel like he’s ignoring me, because he does participate when we’re playing games or doing something together. I also tried to make sure he was comfortable and asked him from time to time if he was okay or if I was making him uncomfortable.

I was wondering, is being somewhat reserved or shy like this fairly common in Korea, or is it more of a personality thing? I don’t want to accidentally come across as rude or disrespectful, especially since I’m not very familiar with Korean social norms.

I’m genuinely interested in making more Korean friends and learning more about the culture. I’m also into playstation nd PC gaming, so it’d be cool to meet more people I can play and hang out with sometime. I’d really appreciate any advice or insights from Korean people here.
