(DISCLAIMER THIS IS NOT ME HATING ON SKZ AT ALL!! I love them and they hold a special place in my heart, this is just a general observation of mine. Everything in this post is based off of MY OWN opinion!!)
Hello all, as the title says- Stray Kids’ Title Tracks just aren’t really as enjoyable as they used to be.
I’ve been a fan of the music since late 2021 and absolutely fell in love with their songs and their sound. However, ever since ROCK-STAR (Lalalala) I feel like their title tracks just have been lacking. Chk Chk Boom was a song that took me an unusually long time to enjoy but nothing out of the ordinary. Then came HOP, KARMA, and now Do It. I keep finding myself enjoying the B-sides much much more than the title tracks- so much so that I even wonder why the title was chosen as the title.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that the choruses in the title songs rely heavily on repeating of a phrase or a word. Has anyone else experienced this?
Both CEREMONY and Do It sound almost identical to me in terms of general sound and the chorus. Which is honestly insane because I usually hate saying a song sounds identical to another. To be honest it’s really turned me off of Stray Kids, which is super disappointing to me as they were my second group I ever stanned. But I often find myself skipping their newer songs (although Hollow and Ghost are some of my favorite releases this year!).
Maybe my music taste has changed, or maybe I need to give both CEREMONY and DO IT more listening to truly enjoy them both. Or maybe because my ult group switched from SKZ to Enhypen back in 2023 I’ve slowly been listening to them less therefore I don’t have the same music taste as I once did?
