Is it ok, or am I drinking crazy water: being a fan and purchasing decisions

I’m into makeup and skincare, and I’m also into kpop — all good here.

Being a pasty-pasty white paper person with cool undertones, I’m also into k-beauty, as color schemes there suit me well — all good here as well.

But lately I caught myself on a strange thought when browsing the “on sale” tabs, and it made me a bit uncomfortable. You see, I’m not proactively monitoring all the ambassadorships and promotional campaigns, but I do see announcements from time to time on the main kpop sub and some of the group-specific subs that I’m on.

So, I caught myself consciously deciding against purchasing products from brands that are currently promoted by idols that I’m not a fan of. Even when said brands are staples in my routine or I was interested in a product before hearing about the promotions.

Is it weird? I mean, it probably is a little bit weird, but is it a “you need to fix your thinking asap” or “it’s not that serious” kind of weird?

On one hand, I’m not denying myself anything based on pure bias — it’s not like I’ll die without a particular essence or toner pads.
On the other hand, I’m still influenced by the marketing, even if my decision to not buy something isn’t necessarily a move towards overconsumption.

I don’t even know what to think. Any insights?
