Let me start by saying of course they can still bounce back in the future they are a hybe girl group and will have the necessary resources and spotlight to bounce back. This is not me saying their careers are over but by the 11th day post their debut its pretty clear the response to them so far as a group and their members and their debut song has been very lukewarm to be generous..
By the 11th day, they still haven’t entered melon 100 with Sun kiss, their peak is 132 on the daily chart. This is pretty bad for a big 4 group and a hybe girl group to be exact. Especially since usually the 2nd week of promotions is where a song starts to catch some momentum on the charts but it’s not happening for Tuide so far. On spotify, they have 1.1m monthly listeners and sun kiss has 4,5m streams and is pulling ~400k daily streams
Those numbers are not bad but for a hybe girl group?! Coming after Attention from Newjeans and Fearless from lesserafim and Magnetic from ILLIT this is a big step down. I feel like even hybe most by dissatisfied/disappointed with the performance so far considering their high standards. Obvs it’s difficult to follow Magnetic from ILLIT as a debut song it was the most successful debut song in kpop of all time but even if we lower the standards to non big 4 5th gen group like kiikii and meovv, TUIDE’s debut is underperforming even compared to them
Even if we leave out the numbers and charts, i don’t think the members stood out or were anything special so far in their performances or appearances . maybe it’s the makeup or styling and they might improve with time but overall they all are just there it seems no one captures the attention. The song itself didn’t go viral and the dance moves were uninspiring too
What do you guys think? Is it too harsh to consider their debut a flop since they are a hybe girl group? Or should we judge them differently?
