Two days ago I went on another deep dive on iz*ones infamous riging scandal and then researched about where the rigged out members are now. For those who don’t know, the most infamous (confirmed) rigger member is chowon from lightsum so I remembered lightsum for the first time in years and wondered where they are up to.
I went to their yt channel and I was shocked. Their last proper cb was 2,5 years ago,in late 2023 and their only music release since then was a unit song with 3 members that got virtually no promo.
So I asked myself the question:what’s the point of keeping them in the company if you’re not gonna give them any work?
It got me thinking of a prevalent issue amongst non big 4 companies, especially cube. Why keep them under contract if you know you’ve basically given up on them and do not intent to give them work? The exact same thing happened to clc too,I remember because I used to be a stan.
It doesn’t even make sense from a financial standpoint because they’re paying for their accommodations without the members making profit back. Plus it’s unfair to the members because it does not allow them to pick up any other projects outside the company
So my question is this: Why does cube and other companies not terminate them even though it’s obvious they’ve given up on them? Are they doing it because they don’t want to loose the money they invested to debut them?
