So Haeum, Sui, and Jiyu were doing a joint livestream back in late October, but a specific moment from it has recently gone viral across all social media platforms in Korea. Here’s the clip for context. Since there’s no English subtitle in the clip, I’ll write out a transcript of what happened below so you can follow along more easily. Haeum is on the left, Sui is in the middle, and Jiyu is on the right.
Here is how it went down:
Sui was eating her favorite instant udon and said, “This is the udon we used to eat almost every day back when we were trainees. It has been so long since I’ve had one.”
Jiyu added, “That’s right. I used to make it often for Sui.”
Then out of nowhere, Haeum jumped in with, “TiiKiiis (KiiiKiii’s fandom name), do you know what’s in Sui’s head? She has udon noodles in there.”
Both Sui and Jiyu looked shocked and stared into the camera. Haeum then pointed at Sui’s head and started twirling her finger, saying, “Right here, right here.”
Sui reacted immediately. “Um… isn’t this a bit inappropriate?”
Jiyu tried to fix the situation by saying, “No, no, the udon noodles are in Sui’s stomach right now.”
Sui, reading the chat, said, “TiiKiiis are saying you went too far. What are you even talking about?”
But instead of backing down, Haeum doubled down. “No, no. Do you know why I said that? It’s because Sui is stupid.”
Sui responded, “You need to be scolded for saying that.”
Jiyu tried once again to smooth things over, but Haeum was already giggling, and the clip ends shortly after.
That is basically the full context.
In Korea, saying something like “you have ramen noodles in your brain” or “you have udon noodles in your brain” is essentially the same as saying “you have shit for brains” or “you got bricks for brains” in English. People might joke like that anonymously online, but it’s considered quite rude in real life and definitely not something you casually say to a friend. Having spent many years in Korea, I’ve honestly never heard anyone say that out loud to another person.
So I have no idea why Haeum thought tripling down on that comment during a livestream was a good idea, especially toward a group member. The clip has gone viral over the last few days, and most of the reactions have been critical, calling her rude, careless, classless, saying her behavior came off bully-ish.
What stood out to me the most was how quickly both Sui and Jiyu recognized that the remark crossed a line. Jiyu, being the leader, clearly tried to defuse the situation right away, but the way Haeum doubled and then tripled down only made everything worse lol She clearly didn’t even realize what she said is considered inappropriate. I honestly felt bad for the other two. If there’s one thing I can take away from all of this, it’s that Jiyu is clearly the right choice to lead KiiiKiii.
