Girl group NewJeans is set to hold an emergency offline press conference today at 8:30 p.m. at the Space Share’s Galaxy Hall near Samseong Station in southern Seoul.
The press conference is expected to be livestreamed on YouTube.
Industry insiders suggest that the atmosphere between NewJeans and ADOR does not seem to point towards reconciliation.
This speculation stems from the title of the press invitation, which reads: “Invitation to NewJeans Emergency Press Conference Regarding Exclusive Contract Termination.” The explicit mention of “contract termination” in the title suggests the focus of the event.
Additionally, the reinstatement of Min Hee-jin as ADOR’s CEO appears to be virtually impossible, as she has also stepped down from her role as an internal director at ADOR.
An industry source commented, “By openly labeling the press conference as being about contract termination, and by making demands that are difficult for ADOR to accept, it seems clear that NewJeans is preparing for the possibility of ending their exclusive contract. However, there is also a chance they could propose new terms or extend a hand for reconciliation during the press conference, so the outcome remains uncertain for now.”
