Bibimbap was never a special dish to me.

Bibimbap was never a special dish to me.
Growing up in Korea, I never thought of Bibimbap as the beautifully arranged, colorful dish you often see today. To me, it was simply a giant stainless steel mixing bowl.
When I was a child, we didn’t have a dining table. My family sat on the floor around a small round table for meals. Whenever my father brought out that big mixing bowl, he’d throw in rice, whatever side dishes were left in the fridge, a spoonful of Doenjang-jjigae, a dab of Gochujang, and a drizzle of sesame oil.
That was our Bibimbap. Looking back, it was probably the fastest “fast food” my family ever had. 😊

K-FOOD STORY
I’d love to know — is there a food from your childhood that brings back memories before it brings back its taste?
