The Korea Economic Daily hosted the spring conference of ASK 2024 in Seoul in May
South Korea’s major institutional investors and global asset managers will gather at the ASK 2024 global alternative investment conference on Oct. 16-17 to share their outlook for and discuss investment opportunities in private credit, real estate and infrastructure markets.
Kim Tae-hyun, chairman of the National Pension Service (NPS), the world’s No. 3 pension scheme, and Park Il-young, recently appointed as CEO of the Korea Investment Corp (KIC), a sovereign wealth fund, will give keynote speeches on the first day of the largest alternative investment forum in Asia.
It will be Park’s first debut at an international conference as KIC’s chief after he was appointed to the post late in September.

The Korea Economic Daily, South Korea’s largest business media group, will host the biannual conference at Conrad Seoul in Yeouido.

Alternative investment managers at Korea’s Teachers’ Pension, Government Employees Pension Service (GEPS), Korean Teachers’ Credit Union (KTCU), Public Officials Benefit Association (POBA), Korea Federation of SMEs (KBIZ) and Military Mutual Aid Association are also joining panel discussions during the ASK 2024 forum.
Kim Soomin, founder and head of private equity firm UCK Partners, will deliver a keynote speech on the topics of private equity and debt on Oct. 16.
The same day, chief investment officers of Hanwha Life Insurance Co., Lotte Non-life Insurance Co. and KBIZ will discuss private equity and credit market investments at a panel session.

On Oct. 17, senior investment officers of POBA, KTCU and GEPS will participate in a real estate and infrastructure panel session to talk about investing in data centers, renewable energy in Europe, logistics and housing facilities, as well as infrastructure bonds.

Global asset managers will give presentations, or moderate panel discussions to explore new investment areas in the low interest era after the US Federal Reserve cut interest rates by half a percentage point in September.
Kristofer Kraus, managing director and private strategies manager at PIMCO, will speak about “the rise of asset-backed lending in private credit.”

Thierry Timsit, founder and CEO of Europe-based private equity firm Astorg, will make a presentation titled “The personalized medicine: rethinking the pharma model.”
Other asset managers participating in the conference include Permira; General Atlantic; Oaktree Capital Management; Lexington Partners, a unit of Franklin Templeton; PAG; Nuveen; Sculptor Capital Management; Round Hill Capital; and BGO.
