To preface, I’m a fan of both Enhypen and Illit. I absolutely have no intention degrading one of the groups whatsoever. Sorry for any typos or grammar mistake.
I first noticed this during Illit’s Not Cute Anymore era. There’s some gllits that talks about how belift didn’t try to promote illit outside of East Asia. I also noticed this during both Illit and Enhypen comeback this year. While engenes are concerned about Enhypen’s lack of promotion in Korea, gllits are also feeling like belift is missing out by not trying to promote Illit harder outside of Korea and Japan.
Seeing the recent events, I feel like Enhypen is starting to have more potential in Korea. Illit too also seems to have more potential in the US or outside Asia now. I’m wondering why belift didn’t try harder to promote them there when those potential exist. Like, the reversed concern of both fandoms is almost funny too because it’s clear belift is capable promoting both inside and outside of Korea, but they didn’t do it.
Is it because it’s not the time yet? Or the money? I’m guessing Illit isn’t promoted harder outside of Asia because their target is South Korea and Japan for now. Since they’re only in their third year, it make sense why belift would want to focus on those regions first. But I’m confused about Enhypen since Enhypen is here for almost six years now and Jungwon has even stated that Enhypen’s lack of popularity in Korea is a concern for both the members and the agency. If it’s about money I’m sure Enha brings in lots of revenue, illit is also quite big and there’s Evan too under them.
I know Wonhee went to lots of variety shows because she was invited so is it because variety shows in Korea don’t invite Enhypen? But I don’t think it make sense since the agency could make a deal even if the variety shows didn’t plan to originally invite a group. Youngji and Lee Mujin also mentioned about trying to invite Enhypen before and they only had a chance to appear recently, so is it because of Enhypen’s busy schedule or Belift has a priority and they’re not risking trying to tackle both regions at the same time?
What do you guys think of belift’s choices with both groups? Would you guys think it’s a good decision if belift chose to promote enhypen in korea and illit in US/outside Asia this year? Do add if there’s something I miss!
