blackpink lisa’s recent nose job and comments are getting out of hand

just my 2 cents

i’ve been seeing so many people especially on X talking shit about lisa’s new nose. imagine getting so much hate just for doing something for yourself. it’s so sad and disappointing how comfortable people have become in making crude remarks about someone else’s appearance as if it’s so normal for them. it’s like their natural response is to leave derogatory comments about someone or something they dislike.

beauty has always been subjective. what one person finds beautiful, another may not and that’s okay! but there’s a huge difference between having a personal preference and publicly mocking someone just because they don’t fit your idea of beauty.

no one deserves to be ridiculed over the choices they make about their own body. whether you personally like the change or not, basic kindness and respect should not be optional. we can all have our own opinions without demeaning another human being.

The biggest lesson I have learnt about language did not come from my Korean classroom. It came while reading an English essay written by my Korean student. Until recently, I assumed learning a language was mostly about memorizing vocabulary and grammar. After all, that is what language classes often seem to revolve around. Now, after studying English, Chinese and Korean,… Read more: Thinking in 3 languages
