Tracking the “minimalist chorus” trend in kpop?

Lately there seems to have been a number of songs where the chorus or whatever plays that role is reduced to barely one word or one line, sometimes only spoken with some heavy instrumental.

Some of those songs I love, others not my cup of tea; but in all instances it seems to be associated with a heavy EDM component and all clearly intended to sound “edgy”, but I am by no means an expert in songwriting or composition analysis so I‘m curious what others have observed.

Also whether it started in the pop/ hyperpop realm as I suspect without knowing anything about the specifics.

Examples as far as I can tell:

-Katseye Gnarly (let’s not debate whether they’re kpop, actually IMO they aren’t but they’re in the system);

-Blackpink -Go

-BTS -Body to Body

-Aespa -Whole Different Animal (WDA).

Any others?

Appreciate your thoughts!
