It’s crazy that this is happening again. They were already called out for using heavy AI work in their promotions during their last comeback in 2024.
This time, they uploaded an animation video as part of their promotional rollout for their first full album, which is set to release in just a few weeks. The problem is that the animation was not only AI generated, but they were also caught directly copying from a small animation team that created a film called Niccolo. The creators of the film directly called out Billlie on social media for stealing their work saying,
“SO GROSS. This band used our film Niccolo to create an AI slop music video. Idk what to do about this tbh.”
The post went viral as expected, and Mystic Story’s CEO released a statement saying, “Going forward, there will be no unnecessary use of AI in the work of Billlie.”
I can’t believe they took this risk again after facing such major backlash a few years ago, only to repeat the same mistake in an even more egregious manner. This is their first comeback in a long time and probably the most important project of their career, yet they end up sabotaging themselves by using and copying another artist’s work. Cmon Mystic Story…🤦♀️
