What I mean by that is not what’s your favorite K-pop song of all time, but rather a song that feels like a “complete package”and personally excels on the following criteria (by the way there’s no single correct answer, I mostly want to see what are you parameters for the following criteria that constitute a perfect song)
– Length
– Rap (optional)
– Vocals
– Choreography
– Emotion
My picks would be :
Sixth Sense – BEG : this is the most perfect song in my subjective standards, you literally can’t find a fault in it unless you hate the choreography for some odd reason 😂, amazing message, MV, very strong instrumental, vocals and the rap are off-charts and in my top 3 still today as I come up on a 17y K-pop anniversary hahaha (I started listening to K-pop in 2009)
Into the New World – SNSD : to me this is song is K-POP personified, it hits on everything I consider in a song, amazing vocals, choreography and length (I prefer a longer song), as well as most importantly here, the emotional side, this song is tied to so many emotional events, whether that’d be for the group or for other people, it also feels very hopeful, which is an important emotion that we’re missing nowadays, this song hugs you and tells you everything is gonna be good, even if today was gloomy, the sun will come up tomorrow
Limitless – NCT127 : A very shocking pick for me when I was thinking about it, but consider this, it has amazingly catchy verses, one of my favorite bridges and choreographies as well as my favorite thing, a harmony chorus, this song is peak NCT for me, and the reason I actually started giving male groups and solo artists a chance (and I’m thankful for that)
Invitation – Uhm Jung Hwa : I know this is a bit of an odd pick but truly this is the song that showed me that the artists aura alone can carry a song, truthfully there are many more songs that are “more impressive” vocally, in rap and choreography wise, but this is to me a complete song in that I feel satisfied when it finishes and not wanting more after it finishes
This is gonna be my last one but Irreversible – Gain : this song is heavily carried by the instrumental and Gain as an artist, she leans very well into this type of beat, no other artist can do it as perfectly as her
I would be honored to hear your guys’ opinions and reasoning (totally optional btw)
