For context, YG just announced Babymonster’s upcoming World Tour starting mid year around May-June, which include both North & South America ( which means LATAM is included). Also Oceania is included, which means Australia & New Zealand (possibly) dates will be there.
Now my question is; BLACKPINK have toured 3 World Tours till now since debut. And not a single one had LATAM dates. Even when LATAM has possibly one of the biggest markets for kpop. I can understand for the first tour since that was not in big venues and limited dates. But for the other 2? Bornpink Tour was 13 months long ! A whole year and a month extra. And still they didn’t do any LATAM dates. Mexico City was there but that won’t even count fair to the LATAM fans. 10 years into their career with 2 major World Tours. I guess the rumor of YG hating BLACKPINK and how successful they hv become might be true, coz ain’t no way they couldn’t hv done LATAM dates. Also the fact that YG suffered loses non-stop until BLACKPINK did something as a group. Statistically Tours make the majority of the money when it comes to kpop groups and companies profits. Even then they didn’t, that should say most of it.
As for other companies, HYBE and JYPE groups often do LATAM dates and they have even set up their own subsidiary branches in LATAM region to accomodate their artists fully. SM don’t have a base set-up, and still their artist do LATAM dates (example are NCT, Aespa, RV, even Super Junior did tour in LATAM back in 2013 I think). Even smaller-mid sized companies did LATAM dates.
So, why not YG? What y’all think?
