A bit late, but here is our New Year's Tteokguk. (Dumplings are homemade, rice cakes are... store-bought ๐Ÿ˜…)

A little late to the party, but here is my homemade Tteokguk to celebrate the New Year! (Okay, full disclosure: the dumplings are homemade, but we bought the rice cakes lol).

Since I got such a warm response on my previous post about my wife’s cooking, I worked up the courage to share another one.

We usually prefer a clean anchovy broth base, but for New Year’s, we went with a rich beef bone broth (Sagol). The dumplings (Mandu) were made during a fun gathering with friends and family.

The highlight is the garnish. My wife rolled the yolks into a flower shape. To keep it from unrolling, she used a small piece of dry noodle to pin it in place.

Happy New Year, everyone! Wishing you all nothing but happiness in 2026!
