A simple pot of soybean paste stew made from what I had at home

I had been eating mostly instant food lately, and I felt like cooking something simple at home.

A pouch of soybean paste stew base happened to be on sale, so I worked with what I already had.

Pork belly, frozen vegetables, and a mixed fish cake set.

Soybean paste stew is naturally thick, closer to porridge or oatmeal than a clear soup.

Before it was finished, I tasted it and felt it was a little mild.

So I added some chili powder to bring it together.

The fish cakes weren’t for the stew. I grilled them on the side instead.

They’re usually meant for soup, but grilling them works well as a quick side dish or snack.

Nothing fancy, just a simple home-cooked meal after a stretch of instant food.
