(Originally considered posting this on r/China, r/Anarchism, or r/China_irl, but I think I’d better talk about this subject right here) I’m not talking about the ultranationalist “little pink” folks spamming about why Korean identity was fabricated and Koreans are actually a Han Chinese subgroup and Korea historically was a Chinese vassal all along. I mean, online KKK conventions exist everywhere (including in Korea), right? I’m actually talking about some other Chinese obsessed with Korea: the cold-war style hawks and the “anti-imperialists”. You can see social media Chinese accounts like Gordon Chang talking about why Korean liberals are backed by CCP and they will turn South Korea into dictatorship and USA should liberate South Korea. They, despite being Chinese themselves, mainly target South Korean racist accounts (those jackasses with South Korean, Japanese, American, Israeli, and Brazilian flag emoji flairs) that openly say ethnic slurs against Chinese, and they also buy into many South Korean conspiracy theories. On the other side, you can see some “communists” “anti-imperialists” such as ShanghaiPanda talking about why South Korea is an American project and South Korea should have been annexed by North Korea in 1950.
