When I was kid, I used to love the doenjang-jjigae (Korean soybean paste stew) my mother made. Especially when she cooked it in a ttukbaegi (Korean stone pot), watching the bubbling broth rise to the surface was mesmerizing. I’d scoop a spoonful of rice and enjoy it with the steaming hot stew—it was pure comfort. These days, I live far from my mother and can’t experience that exact taste anymore.
