This is kinda stupid but considering that the internet or social media is essentially a reflection of society you almost have to treat it like a separate world, cause it kind of is. And what we witness online to an extent is the product of a lawless land. People say or do whatever tf they want, there are no restrictions (kinda). So what’s missing? Why have things gotten so out of hand online. Cause even I can say as someone who’s been in fandom spaces for many years, each year people just get worse. And yeah theirs the whole “normies” post covid stuff and sure. I honestly think there’s a lot more that goes into it than that, but truly looking at it what we are witnessing I think is really the outcome of overwhelming freedom with the allowance of anonymity. So what do you do to fix it.
In the real world we sit around and watch our lawmakers spend decades trying to accomplish literally anything and during all that we’re often told to focus on our own communities, these smaller elections, cause change starts at the bottom. So what if we took it a step further and applied that to even smaller communities, fandoms. And while that’s kind of silly in a way, how interesting would that be? Could it even be accomplished and would there be positive change?
