My cousins, friends, neighbours, and coworkers are obsessed with Cortis. They buy tons of their merch, stream their songs nonstop, and some of them even travel to Korea just to see them perform and attend fansigns.
Redred is everywhere on social media. Even on Reddit, most people love Cortis. In a game I played, people keep choosing Cortis and keep beating everyone, even groups like Blackpink, BTS, aespa, IVE, ILLIT, LE SSERAFIM, Baemon, Newjeans, and Enhypen.
Tbh I don’t understand the hype cuz I don’t find any of their songs good. What you want, Fashion and TNT all sound bad to me. Their vocals and rapping don’t impress me, and while they are good dancers, I don’t think they are anything extraordinary ngl.
I don’t even dislike autotune to be fair. There are plenty of songs with heavy autotune that I think are actually great, like Bon bon chocolat by Everglow, Hurricane venus and I did it for love by BoA, Catch catch by Yena, Can’t nobody and I am the best by 2NE1, Hot issue and Muzik by 4Minute, Electric shock by f(x), I go crazy because of you, Sexy love, and Bo peep Bo Peep by T-ara, TTYL by Loossemble, Bangkok city by Orange Caramel, and I feel good by EXID.
With Cortis, the vocal effects just don’t work for me. Their voices are the biggest problem for me because they are irritating to listen to
What confuses me is how they became so popular when their concept borrowed from Travis Scott and Playboi Carti’s style, which makes it hard for me to see what makes them unique. The vocals and rap are average, the dancing is good but not outstanding, and the music itself feels underwhelming.
I’m not saying people are wrong for liking them. I just genuinely don’t understand why so many people are obsessed with them when, to me, the music feels so lackluster.
