I believe we must never forget the anti-feminist agenda pursued by Yoon Suk-yeol during his administration under the People Power Party. That government is now part of the past, and it was the power of young Korean women that played a vital role in making that happen. Without the union of Korean women, I don’t believe the recent impeachment protests would have drawn such widespread sympathy, solidarity, or maintained such a powerful yet peaceful force. When women rise, the nation changes. This is something we must fully understand and embrace. Korean women live each day at the threshold between life and death. Now, as they await the next administration, they do so with the hope that we will move in the right direction. The Democratic Party must change its approach to policy and its vision for the future. The power of Korean women has already overturned a government and astonished the world. The only viable future for Korea is one that embraces women and walks forward with them. Let us unite. Let us pressure the Democratic Party to make women’s issues a central pillar of its platform. Korea can change when women lead—and we’ve already proven that to the world by overturning an entire government. I believe true democracy in Korea begins when women are given equal access to opportunity, representation, and achievement. I drew this cartoon to talk to Korean politicians who can’t change their patriarchal values. And women. In fact, just yesterday, the most promising Democratic presidential candidate was hit by the corrupt Supreme Court’s false criminal framing. This happened in the last presidential election. I drew this because I was so worried about the future of Korea.
