আরামের মেয়ে(Comfort Women)

So this article is soon to become a decade old, it’s an old Bengali article about comfort women… in a way you could say this was my first introduction to a country called Korea back in my sixth grade, even before Train to Busan got popular in our country. I might’ve burried such a traumatic introduction in my depth of consciousness but with recent cases… along with media portrayal in the k-entertaintment industry, brought it out all of a sudden, I’ve been searching for this article for a while now, specially cuz back when I read it, it was in a newspaper. I even forgot the name to search up the soft copy online until recently when I searched it up with the exact name along with the news company. Anyways my point is the world will remember. It still does, and it will forever. Japan might’ve somewhat helped in our freedom struggles, but it shared it’s likes more with brits even though they faced each other on the war front. Whereas on the other hand both our countries were colonized by bloody islanders, countries torn by outsiders, we even share the same independence day. I just wanted to share this since I felt like their stories should be known again and again and you guys should know how far this discussion streches across the world.

Somewhat to note, The article is fully in Bengali, but since it doesn’t have much of a media or translatory popularity(long gone are days of Tagore, haha) some things gets lost in translations(specially the idioms) even in English, let alone in other languages, however our grammar have similar structures, and most of it has been written in an ironical tone against Japan. Also to note: I’ve never been fan of the big whales(eg: Brits due colonial trauma, Japs after knowing this and WW2, the Germs for obvious reasons and presently Merika , not to mention the complaint about one’s own country is age old) so nothing political that’s all
